"Super Scriptures"?

WHY SCRIPTURE IS ''SUPER''

» 2 Timothy 3:16
(AMP)
16 All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration]...

» 2 Peter 1:20-21
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

The Bible is the inspired Word of the living God. It is not the work of mortal men. The ''holy men of God'' whose names headline the individual books therein were simply conduits for the Holy Ghost to speak divine information. Even as God breathed into Adam the breath of life, so He has breathed Life into the Holy Scriptures. Every nook and cranny of the Bible is packed with the awesome power of the Almighty. This fact alone makes it a super book - the Super Book, in fact.

At the same time, there are certain scriptures which have a greater effect on us than others. Right? It is very common to have a ''favorite'' verse or passage. For example, one of my all-time favorite scriptures for a long time has been Jeremiah 29:11 -

''For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'' (New International Version)

To have a favorite scripture doesn't mean we reject the rest of the Bible. It simply means that a particular verse or group of verses strike a spiritual chord with us. Many times God will ''quicken'' a specific scripture to us for the purpose of meeting the demands of a situation. There are certain scriptures which offer greater relevance to us in particular places and times in our lives than others. These become our Super Scriptures.

When the devil attacked Jesus with specific temptations, our Super Savior responded by quoting three relevant scriptures - each one corresponding to the need of the moment (Luke 4:1-13). Consider this: you are more likely to derive practical benefit from 1 Peter 5:7 than 1 Chronicles 5:7. I encourage you to look them up and compare them. One will show you how to overcome worry, and the other one...not so much. This isn't to diminish one, nor to accept one over the other. They are both inspired by the Holy Spirit. They are both included in the Bible for a reason. But certain scriptures pack a greater punch in certain situations.
