A Message From The President

 My fellow Americans,
the hour is dark.
Hence I stand before you
with a heavy heart.

Something is coming.
Something man has never seen.

An attack lacking precedent
within the pages of history.

As you all well know
we have many foes.

Based upon decades of intelligence
we know a super technology
has been in development.

This thing will change our paradigm
for it is designed to accelerate Time.

The rate at which you age
will rapidly climb.

Happy events?
They will pass on a dime.

According to radar
it's approaching the West Coast.

Optically elusive
it's sorta like a ghost.

Visible one minute then missing
as if somehow it's hopping dimensions.

This bomb is like none ever before faced
during the storied saga of the human race.

According to analysis by our military brass
you won't hear a boom or feel any blast.

There'll be no obvious harm to the landscape.
No buildings razed or landmarks erased.

Afterward you won't find debris or rubble.
Instead the damage will be more subtle.

Once you behold the image in the mirror
the tragic fallout will become much clearer.

Smooth skin of youth
will crinkle into wrinkles.

Sandy strands of hair
with gray will be sprinkled.

This will take place
before your dimming eyes.

Weakening hearts will race
as Time literally flies.

It will seem as if you're getting mocked
by the furious spinning of the clock.

The lesson lurking within all this?
Time is...was...the greatest of gifts.

Nothing on Earth abides or forever lasts.

Who knew it would ever pass this fast?

The Time Bomb will soon upon us fall.

May God eternal have mercy on us all.

Cosmic Latte

Meet Zask and Zisk,
See them venture forth --
They know little
About the destination
Only that it's an energy station
On a big blue world
Known to locals as Earth.

"Look at that!"
Exclaims Zask,
"We are in luck --
This structure must be a gateway
To the stars in exchange for bucks."

The transparent portal opens
And the two cautiously fly through
Into an aromatic atmosphere
Wondering what's about to brew.

"Here's an interesting tidbit,"
Offers Zask to Zisk,
"Our ships are called 'flying saucers'
Here on this oversized planet."
To which Zisk sarcastically replies,
"Well that's just ridiculously awesome,
Now would you please just can it?"

"I know the ride's been bumpy
But must you be so grumpy?"
Asks Zask to Zisk
From an elongated throat
Beginning to feel quite lumpy.

Between the text-backs and paperbacks
And the tap-taps and chit-chat
Zisk and Zask hover undetected
Over these life forms so distracted.

"Home Base! Home Base!
Calling Home Base --
Why have you sent us
To this odd and noisy place?"

Tho' transmitted far from nigh
Quickly comes back the reply:

"Navigator Zisk and Navigator Zask,
Yours is a mission of deduction
With a reconnaissance function --
So focus on the task
And await further instructions."

Zisk points out a place to land
On a wide strip of land
Making sure Zask understands
To watch for the jittery giant hands.

"Tsk! Tsk! I know this, Zisk!
I'm not exactly new at this."

So without ado
Boom or pop
The scaled-down craft
Lands on the countertop.

There the saucer rests
Without drawing attention --
An inconspicuous arrival
From an alien dimension.

Meanwhile within the cockpit
Zask and Zisk sit and wait
As they observe the human chatter
And clatter of cups and plates.

Suddenly and abruptly
A bogey descends with a crash
On top of Zisk and Zask --
"We are under attack!"
Yells Zisk to Zask;
"Don't you think I know that?"
To Zisk yells back Zask,
"What in this world is that?"

Then into the chaos
From a place deep in Space
An urgent message reverberates
From the bowels of Home Base:

"RED ALERT! RED ALERT!
We tell you the truth --
A hot handled hostile
Has come down on your roof,
So ascend and abort!"

The trendy human specimens
Stare in utter disbelief
As the latte levitates
With the rising saucer underneath.

Up goes the mug
On one unsteady ride
Splashing its frothy contents
Over its ceramic sides.

After the saucer zips away
Into the light of day
Zask and Zisk let out sighs
And in unison the duo say:
"So that's why they call this
The Milky Way!"

Back home in the domain
Of their otherworldly plane
Zisk and Zask feel disdain
As they strain to explain
Why and how their saucer
Now has a giant coffee stain.

A-EYE is Watching

Is this it?
Am I about to die?

I missed the chance
To say goodbye.

I can't decide
To scream or cry.

My palms are moist
And my mouth is dry.

My lids feel heavy
Blocking my sight.

Every joint aches
My muscles are tight.

Everything in me
Wants to fight.

But resistance isn't an option
Neither is flight.

I can't move.
My body's paralyzed.

How did I get here?
Where am I?

And what is this table
On which I lie?

Why is this happening?
Why, O God, why?

I can't get up
No matter how hard I try.

What pain in my side!
Nothing about this is right!

Strangely enough
My left leg feels electrified.

I feel it moving up
Up to my thigh.

At last my lids
Open I manage to pry.

In fly rays
Of an unearthly light.

To my surprise
My raging mind begins to quiet.

I cannot sense
Anyone by my side.

But before I can
With relief sigh

Something unbelievable descends
As if from the sky.

Coming into view
Invading my sight

Is a giant, artificial eye
Like a scene from sci-fi.

Remotely controlled
Featuring tech that is high

Hypnotic and robotic
Clearly programmed with A.I.

Inches away from my flesh
Rapidly rotating clockwise

Attached to a mechanical arm
Pulsing flashes of light.

Up and down my body it does glide
Not touching but positioned nigh.

If I somehow live forever
Never having to die

I will always remember this night
With the otherworldly Eye.
